As reported by Minority Business News (MBNUSA) there have been growing efforts to include veteran  businesses in the diversification of public works procurement across the U.S.

The outlet reports how NVBDC (The National Veteran Business Development Council) has become an important org for credentialing SD/VOBs; meaning they can help veterans and disabled veterans to become certified as Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses  (SDVOSB) or Veteran Owned Small Business (VOSB). This opens up a whole world of opportunities in public works for small veteran owned enterprises.

The SDVOSB program is administered by the Small Business Administration (SBA), while the VOSB program is administered by the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA).

Due to the recent Covid-19 pandemic, many non-certified veteran owned buisnesses were approached by NVBDC and notified that if they attain certification through NVBDC, many member corporations will consider them for business opportunities. “I see nothing but growth and opportunity for all Service-Disabled and Veteran-Owned Businesses. It takes some work on their part, but the rewards can lead to success.” explained Brigadier General (ret) Richard Miller, President, NVBDC.
