Small Business Administration Administrator Jovita Carranza showered President Donald Trump with praise on Monday despite the resignation of many of her colleagues including the Secretary of the Department of Transportation and five senior Federal Aviation Authority officials.

During the launch of the SBA’s Ascent platform, a digital tool aimed at helping women small business owners scale up their companies, Carranza spoke unequivocally in favor of Donald Trump, who is being heavily criticized on both sides of the aisle for inciting the violence that took place at the Capitol building last week which resulted in the death of a police officer.

“I want to thank the White House for the ongoing support it has given us in creating this platform including assistance from a number of other federal agencies,” Carranza said. “I can say this without any reservation, this president is absolutely committed to helping every woman, particularly minority women, veterans, and military spouses access the opportunities and resources to achieve the American dream for her and her family.”

As Contractor News reported last week, a number of high-profile officials have resigned from the Trump Administration in the wake of the riots which shook the United States to its core. Among them were Department of Transportation (DoT) Secretary Elaine Chao and five senior appointees to the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA).

“Yesterday, our country experienced a traumatic and entirely avoidable event as supporters of the President stormed the Capitol building following a rally he addressed,” Chao said.

“Our colleagues’ decisions, given the gravity of yesterday’s events, are understandable," FAA chief of staff Angela Stubblefield wrote to the agency in an email. "Like all of us, they are outraged by the brazen and violent attack on one of the sacred institutions of American democracy."
